ReadingFC Renews It Commitment To “The Reading Way”
What is The Reading Way? It is a renewed, rejuvenated commitment to our core values – what this club stands for, what we represent, what we aspire to, our identity.
Community, Friendship, Ambition and Commitment.
“That identity has to glow in everything we do, every supporter we engage with, every connection we make with our local community,” explains Reading FC Chief Executive Nigel Howe. “It has to radiate from every young player we foster through to the first team, be at the heart of every attempt to instil Reading Football Club in town life and local enterprise.”
We are Reading Football Club. We are more than a match.
In two years’ time, we will be 150 years old. Our history is long and rich and while it may not be as decorated as some other clubs, we can be so proud of our heritage, our progress and our future.
Chief Executive, Nigel Howe, commented, ‘’At the end of last season, we knew that we had some trials and
tribulations with too big a squad, and the manager wanted to reduce the squad
size. It has been quite slow in the marketplace so we haven’t moved as many
players as quickly as we’d have liked, but we have the commitment to do this.
If everybody is patient over the next few weeks, you should see the same sort
of traction that you had in the January transfer window – which will allow us
to move forward and bring in the players we need.’’
“As owners, we are honoured to be part of this special family,” said Mr Yongge Dai. “And we are humbled by the devotion you continue to show for your club and truly grateful for the support you will wholeheartedly give to the team once again as we prepare for a new season and a new challenge. You must also realise that you, our fans, play a big part in making ‘The Reading Way’ a successful path to follow, creating a positive environment which can help this club can thrive and flourish.”
As part of our commitment to The Reading Way, the next 12 months will see the club share and celebrate the stories, the successes, the people who continue to make this club great. It is our collective responsibility to praise, embolden and inspire our loyal fans, our Community Trust coaches, our talented young players, our dedicated staff – all who hold our crest close to their heart.
We will project our principles, our identity and tell our story to all who will listen – our friends, our family, our neighbours, our colleagues, our town.
And we do it together. Side by side, step by step. It’s the only way. It’s The Reading Way.
