Reading Boy Raises Funds For Sporting Mental Health Charity
A courageous 9-year-old boy is carrying out a decathlon to mark his 10th Birthday, in aid of promoting the benefits of sport and exercise in maintaining mental health and wellbeing.
Young Dexter, from Reading, is accelerating his passion for sport and has vowed to complete the notorious ten sporting events, with some of the UK’s biggest sporting stars by his side. His first challenge will be alongside Team GB Hockey stars, Amy Tennant and Sarah Jones. Dexter will be carrying out the challenge until this Friday, 26 June.
Raising funds for Sport in Mind, the charity dedicated to delivering sport and physical activity is delighted with Dexter’s impressive fundraising initiative, Neil Harris, CEO of Sport in Mind, commented:
“We cannot wait to see how many goals Dexter can score against Britain’s best hockey goalkeeper or watch him complete a dive in the London Olympic Aquatics Centre. We are in awe of Dexter’s dedication to raising awareness and educating young people on the benefits of being active for good mental health.
We are also delighted to share that the Mayor of Reading will be joining Dexter for some sporting activities on 19th June! We are so pleased that Cllr Eden joins us in highlighting the message that sport and physical activity helps support good mental health for children and young people”
