Reading Biscuit Factory Launch Silver Screenings Series Starting With Free Event
Reading Biscuit Factory is inviting over 60s in the Berkshire area to a special FREE event on the 7th of September, to launch their Silver Screenings series. The Reading Biscuit Factory has partnered with local elderly charities, including The Link Visit Scheme, Age UK Reading and Age UK Berkshire, to help combat loneliness and provide a fun and welcoming environment for the sometimes forgotten local older population.
Locals are invited to tea and breakfast at Reading Biscuit Factory. Here they can socialise with others, making new friends and catching up with old ones, before unwinding in the movie theatre, whilst being transported into another reality on the big screen.

The event will include free tea and breakfast before a private screening of the movie Belfast (directed and written by Kenneth Branagh and starring Dame Judy Dench), to showcase what the cinema has to offer.
The event launches Reading Biscuit Factories weekly Silver Screening series for over 60s. From mid-September, there will be a regular weekly matinee screening for older audiences, showcasing new releases and timeless classics. Tickets are only £4.50 and include a free hot drink and biscuits.
The manager of the Reading Biscuit Factory, Matt Ferguson, comments, ‘I am so excited to launch the Silver Screening series at the Reading Biscuit Factory. We know this demographic has had a particularly hard time throughout the pandemic, unable to socialise with friends and family. The Silver Screening series allows them to come down and interact with friends, as well as experience everything our cinema has to offer.’
The Reading Biscuit Factory is part of the Really Local Group, the company that is helping to restore the UK’s high streets through creating community spaces. Like its other venues, the Reading Biscuit Factory is more than the usual high street cinema, boasting a huge space for live music, events and exhibitions. During the day, the space is also available for co-working, grabbing a coffee at the cafe, catching up with friends or for local groups to use as they need.
Attendees can also join the Reading Biscuit Factory membership scheme. For only £28, people over the age of 65, as well as students, NHS workers and Bluelight card holders, can get an annual membership. Membership includes five free cinema tickets, along with 20% off all food and drink in the venue, 20% off future tickets and invites to free member events.
