Reading Apprenticeship 2017 Broad Street Open Event

As part of National Apprenticeship Week 2017 (6-10 March), a two-day event on Broad Street next week will be promoting the opportunities that apprenticeships provide to young people and businesses.
Alexa Volker, Elevate Reading Skills for Business Co-ordinator, said: “Apprenticeships are a great way to start working in a field you want to work in while learning key skills and being paid.  They provide a great alternative career route to university. They also offer great benefits to the businesses involved.  Almost 75% of apprenticeship employers report that it has helped their businesses improve the quality of their product or service.  After finishing, 77% of apprentices stay with the same employer.”

Apprenticeships provide an alternative career route to higher education, valuable work experience, transferrable work skills and a nationally recognised qualification. Crucially, apprentices are also earning a salary while learning and making a real contribution to business.

Apprenticeships are available in 1500 job roles covering more than 170 industries with more than 28,000 apprenticeships available at any one time.

On Thursday 9 and Friday 10 March 2017 (10am to 4pm), a range of training providers will be available on Broad Street to talk to prospective apprentices, parents and employers about why apprenticeships make sense.  Come speak to Henley College, Activate Apprenticeships, UK Training & Development, Kaplan Financial, Chiltern Training, Elevate Reading, Adviza, QA, Bracknell & Wokingham College about apprenticeship programmes available.
