Reading Abbey Opening Volunteers Wanted
Reading Museum is appealing for volunteers to be part of the Reading Abbey Revealed project, in particular to help out at the re-opening celebrations on 16th June.
The museum is offering a number of exciting volunteering opportunities this summer, including Reading Abbey volunteer stewards to help out at the Reading Abbey Revealed day on Saturday 16th June.
No experience is necessary, although this volunteering role is suited to enthusiastic, friendly people, who like working as a team, are happy to interact positively with members of the public.
Drop In Session
The museum’s volunteer co-ordinator is holding an informal lunchtime drop in session at the museum for potential volunteers to find out more on Thursday 7th June between 12 and 2pm.
Cllr Sarah Hacker, Reading’s Lead Member for Culture, said: “This is a great opportunity for people to get involved in the Abbey project and to help contribute to the success of the celebrations on 16th when the Abbey Ruins reopen. There are a range of opportunities to suit all ages and interests – with the potential to offer a great experience.”
Since 2011, Reading Museum has proudly held an Investing in Volunteers accreditation (IiV). The museum greatly values its volunteer team and uses best practice to support its volunteers in their roles including providing inductions, support and training as needed.
