Lower Earley Showcase Roundabout Roadworks Now Complete
Wokingham Borough Council has finished dualling works on Lower Earley Way four months ahead of schedule.
The Lower Earley Way dualling scheme, part of the council’s £124million major highways project, has involved widening the road to provide two lanes in each direction between the Loddon Roundabout near Showcase Cinema and the new junction with the Winnersh Relief Road (WRR).

The project is intended to accommodate additional traffic which is expected following the completion of phase two of the Winnersh Relief Road.
“We are so pleased this important major highways project is finished ahead of schedule. Highways projects often over-run due to miserable weather, scheduling difficulties and unforeseen circumstances, but this time we are completing the main construction four months early.
“We would like to thank our residents and local businesses for their patience while these vital works were taking place to help us reduce congestion,” said Cllr Pauline Jorgensen, executive member for highways and transport.
“We are committing substantial investment, secured from developers, in a wide range of infrastructure, including new schools, open spaces, sports, leisure, community facilities, and roads, amounting to nearly £1 billion of investment. I am pleased to see these works to widen Lower Earley Way, a vital phase in our major highways project is now complete.”
Works including planting and landscaping along the carriageway will be carried out at a later date with the majority of these works taking place off the road and without the need for lane closures or temporary traffic lights.
