Mapledurham at War

The location of the 1976 film ‘The Eagle Has Landed’ is an apt venue for Mapledurham at War Re enactors from all over the country will converge on the beautiful Mapledurham Estate to set up camp as if it were during World War 2 for the entire weekend. Trucks, tanks and cars will convey the troops around the site whilst the period displays will show how life was during that time.

Authentic battles will take place each day and music and dancing from the period will entertain the troops. Wartime amphibious jeeps will be “swimming” in the mill pond.

Christine Wallace from the Great British Bake off will be demonstrating some war time recipes and sharing stories from her mother in law.  She will have Memory Board for visitors to add their memories or family stories. Her cookware kitchen will be no doubt be a reminiscing opportunity to be shared with younger visitors
