The NHS ‘Health on the Move’ vaccine bus will be at Bulmershe School in Woodley this week, offering first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

Covid Vaccine Bus When

The vaccine bus will be available from 1pm to 6pm on Tuesday 24, Wednesday 25 and Friday 27 August; and 11am to 4pm on Saturday 28 August. There’s no need to book in advance – simply turn up on the day and get vaccinated. All eligible residents are encouraged to come forward and get vaccinated if they have not done so already. Parking will be available for those travelling by car.

Pfizer Vaccine

Those hoping for a second dose of the Pfizer vaccine must have an eight+ week gap since their first and bring their vaccine card with them. People are encouraged to bring proof of age. Those needing second doses of the Moderna or AstraZeneca vaccines can book through the NHS website. Anyone not able to get a jab on these dates can still book their first or second dose of the vaccine through the NHS website or find an alternative walk-in site.

Cllr Charles Margetts, executive member for health, wellbeing, and adult social care, said: “We are delighted to have the NHS ‘Health on the Move’ vaccine bus back in the borough, particularly as our pop-up at The Forest School was so popular last weekend. The vaccination roll out is moving at pace and we’re pleased to see so many young people coming forward to get jabbed.”

While infection rates remain high in the borough, particularly amongst the younger age groups, it’s important that people get vaccinated to protect themselves and those around them from becoming seriously unwell.

Residents are encouraged to keep up with their twice-weekly lateral flow tests to check they aren’t infected and spreading the virus unknowingly; regardless of if they’ve been vaccinated or not. Everyone should also continue to get a PCR test through the Gov.uk website if they develop any Covid-19 symptoms.

“We are working closely with the NHS to ensure all eligible residents are vaccinated and protected from this nasty virus”, said Cllr Margetts. “So, if you know anyone who needs their vaccination, please encourage them to come along on one of these four days.”
