COVID-19 Support for businesses in Reading from Team Reading

A message From Reading UK

At this difficult time, it is vital businesses can access timely advice and support to help them manage their way through the Coronavirus period. Reading UK is working in close partnership with Reading Borough Council to ensure businesses in Reading’s Business Improvement Districts and wider Reading economy receive all the support you need as quickly as possible.

The Council is implementing the mechanisms required to provide the business rate relief and business grants outlined by national Government in recent days. These includes:

  • Retail, leisure and hospitality rates discount
  • Small business grants
  • Retail, leisure and hospitality grants
  • Business rates holiday for child care providers

If your business is in the Reading Borough Council area, you will find information on how the Council will be providing this support here>>>  . The basic principle for the delivery of this support is that Reading Borough Council will be contacting those businesses that qualify for grant support (under the terms of the Government’s announcements) BY LETTER. You do not need to take any action at this stage. However, please check that you are able to collect the letter from the address registered with the Council as the Business Rates registered address, as the Council may require more information from you in order to trigger the financial packages.

Amended business rates bills will be dispatched shortly to all qualifying businesses. No action is required.

You will also be able to find all the links you need to find out more about Government support, the latest NHS guidance, lists of customer-facing businesses required to close and support for employees on Reading UK’s dedicated Coronavirus webpage>>>

While we recognise we’re only at the start of what will be a difficult journey we want to reassure you that Reading UK and its partners will be working together to formulate plans for economic recovery as soon as the timing is right.
