New recycling bins help keep our town clean and green
NEW waste bins are being installed throughout Reading town centre to increase the amount of litter which is recycled.

Residents and visitors to the town will start to see the 40 new dual bins being put in place this week.
Some will replace existing general waste-only bins and others will be installed in new locations.
The Nexus 200 Outdoor Recycling Bin has one section for depositing plastic bottles, paper, cans and card and another section for general waste.
It is hoped the new bins will prevent about 40 tonnes of waste per year going to landfill.
The bins are clearly labelled to inform people what is allowed in the recycling section to avoid any contamination, which would result in all the waste having to go to landfill.
Councillor Liz Terry, Reading’s Lead Councillor for Neighbourhoods, said: “These smart new bins not only look good but will boost our recycling rates and save the council money.
“So much food and drink is consumed on the go these days it is important to offer people the opportunity to recycle their litter in the street.
“I would urge residents and visitors to the town centre to put their plastic bottles, cans, paper and card into the recycling section of the bins and deposit other litter in the general waste compartment.
“It will give us a great chance to keep our town clean and green.”
