New Reading Football Coaching School Aims To Improve Health Of Children
A new football coaching school is about to launch in Reading that will focus on improving the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of children in the area.
Fun Football Coaching – which launches with free sessions at the football cage at the newly-opened Buzz Gym in Winnersh Triangle in January – wants to tackle some of the health challenges that are faced by children and their parents in the Reading area.
Jason Elwell, a former Chelsea and QPR coach who works with schools across Berkshire to help PE teachers deliver more meaningful physical education for children, is heading up Fun Football Coaching.
Elwell, who has coached Chelsea first team players, including Frank Lampard and John Terry, said: “We have a different approach to other coaching schools and academies in that we are not focused on performance.
“Our focus will be on participation for children of all ability levels, from complete beginner, and making the sessions fun.
He added: “One of our main aims is to support, mentor and develop children in a safe, positive and encouraging environment – so that they enjoy the sessions and their confidence and self esteem improves.
“The knock on effect will be a positive impact on their physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing.”
Fun Football Coaching is due to launch on Saturday, January 25 with a series of free football coaching sessions for boys and girls aged 5-15. For more information, visit funfootballcoaching.com
