Houses to purchase or rent starts with one bedroom apartments costing aroud £130,500 to even £230,000 to buy and around £300 to rent, cost of houses go higher as number of bedroom increases.

Buyers 'pay more for dream location'



Every landlord knows that where a property is situated has a large bearing on its value and it is a countryside surrounding that is most attractive to buyers, a new survey indicates.

When it came to defining the ideal location for a home, 26 per cent of respondents questioned by Halifax Estate Agents said that proximity to the countryside was the most important factor.

This was followed by 18 per cent of potential buyers who prioritised having transport links nearby, while 14 per cent favoured being near to a good school.

Other prized location factors included proximity to work, being close to shops, coffee bars and restaurants and being near to the town or city centre.

The research also indicated that nearly a third of buyers would be prepared to pay up to £10,000 more for a property in the location that they desired.

"Although other factors such as budget, property specification and availability play an important part in the decision to purchase a property, most people begin their search for a home by looking at geographic location first," commented managing director for Halifax Estate Agents Colin Kemp.

Figures from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors show that the number of people migrating from urban to rural areas in the UK rose by 25 per cent between 2000 and 2005.
